Northend United U12s 2 Ballyclare Colts 3
Saturday 8th May 2010

This last match of the season, played in a sun drenched Smithfield on Saturday,  turned out to be a cracker with Ballyclare winning this game in the last few minutes.
This game started with both teams attacking at every opportunity and it was Ballyclare who went in front in the fifth minute. Their lead didn't last long when Ciaran Neeson skipped past two Ballyclare players and hit an unstoppable shot from twenty five yards into the top corner of the net to leave the score 1-1.
Northend were well on top now and they went in front when Leo Morgan received the ball thirty yards out and volleyed into the net giving the Ballyclare keeper no chance, to leave the score 2-1 to United. Northend held on to their lead until half-time

Ballyclare came out a more determinant team in the second half and had Northend on the back foot but Nowak, Campbell, Dubyna and McCorkindale were dealing with everything they could throw at them and when they get pass them Krystian Yawerski in goals was in outstanding form.
The game went from end to end and with ten minutes left on the clock Ballyclare got their equaliser.
Worse was to follow, with only a few minutes left Ballyclare got the winner to break the hearts of the Northend team.
This was an outstanding performance from the whole Northend United team.

Northend United U12s 2 Upper Ardoyne 3
Wednesday 5th May 2010

This match played mid-week at Mallusk was a chance for Northend to stop their recent run of bad results as they had already beaten Upper Ardoyne.
However it was the Belfast team who went in front after the referee not only once but twice allowed play to continue after a player from Upper Ardoyne clearly handled the ball. Then when he played the ball over the top of the Northend defence the Ardoyne striker who was in a off-side position ran on to score.
Northend had a few good chances to level the score but wasted them. After great work by Harry Kilgore down the left wing found Leo Morgan unmarked at the back post but his shot just went over the bar. The score stayed the same until half-time.

Northend drew level early in the second half when they were awarded a penalty, which Ciaran Neeson converted, to make the score 1-1.
Ardoyne where they awarded a penalty but Krystian Yawerski in United's goal saved it. Ardoyne then went in front when Northend failed to clear their lines and added a third shortly afterwards.
Northend made it an anxious last five minutes after Ciaran Neeson added his and Northend's second with a twenty yard volley into the top corner but it turned out to be too little to late, leaving the final score 3-2 to Ardoyne.

Northend United U12s 3 Whitehead Eagles U12s 5
Saturday 24th April 2010

This was a cracker of a match played at Smithfield with Northend hosting the league champions from last year and who are also sitting top of the league this season.
Northend gave them a scare when they produced their best performance of the season.
Whitehead went in front against the run of play when a long ball caught out the last defender and the Whitehead striker outpaced him to score past Anthony O'Neill in goal.
Northend had chances to level but the Whitehead defenders always got back to block their shots. With Northend pushing up, there was always the chance Whitehead might counter-attack. This is what happened for Whitehead's second goal when Northend won a corner it was cleared and the defender booted it straight up field and again their striker slid the ball into the net to put them 2-0 up.
Northend didn't let their heads drop and pulled one back when Joshua King played a prefect pass from midfield to Harry Kilgore who skipped pass two defenders and curled it into the far corner to make the score 2-1.
Harry Kilgore added a second soon afterwards to draw level with Whitehead. David Kilgore had a great chance to put Northend in front just before half-time but just as he was about to strike the ball it hit a divot and went wide, leaving the half time score 2-2

In the second half, Whitehead went in front after Northend were forced into changes in their defence, to make the score 3-2.
In this battling performance, Northend again drew level when the Kilgore brothers combined when Harry played a great ball down the line for David to brush off the big defender and strike from distance to give the keeper no chance.
Northend shot themselves in the foot when confusion in defence lead to an own goal. Whitehead then got a late goal to seal all the points, leaving the final score 5-3 to Whitehead.

Linfield U12s 5 Northend Utd U12s 0
Monday 19th April 2010

This was an eagerly awaited game for the U12s in their first season in competitive football. The youthful Northend team started off this league game matching Linfield tackle for tackle and shot for shot. Play flowed from end to end until the fifteenth minute when Linfield won a corner. When the ball was played in quickly, the Linfield midfielder cracked in an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net, giving Anthony O'Neill in goals no chance.

Northend started giving the ball away to easily in midfield and Linfield scored again when a Northend player tried to clear a shot only to see it deflect of him into the net. The half time score remained 2-0 to Linfield.

Northend came out the stronger team at the start of the second half but didn't create any clear chances. As time wore on, they again started giving the ball away too easily and where made to pay when Linfield scored twice in quick succession, one being an own goal.

With time running out, Northend had a chance to score but Morgan's shot was well saved by the Linfield keeper.

In the final minute of the game, Linfield were awarded a penalty, which they scored, to leave the final score 5-0 to Linfield. This was a lesson in finishing from Linfield that Northend will do well to match in the remainder of the season.
